The event will begin at 12:30 on Wednesday, November 20 and end at 13:00 hours on Friday, November 22, 2013.
We will meet in the historic heart of Utrecht, The Netherlands.
As in 2009 in Paris and in 2011 in Sardinia (the years in which the World Open Space on Open Space did not gather in Europe) you will meet facilitators, sponsors of Open Space events and others interested in this work from all over Europe to expand our understanding of Open Space Technology and how to work with it in the complex system of Europe and elsewhere.
PROGRAMME
There is no prearranged programme. Rather, we meet in an Open Space on Open Space. The programme will be determined by our issues, topics that interests us and that we want to take action on. We organize our communication including the languages used ourselves; this challenge has always been met by self organization.
On DAY ONE we arrive at the venue at 12:30 for registration and a simple lunch. The Opening Circle will be at 13:30 with introduction to the process, announcing issues and the market place followed by two rounds of breakout sessions for work on the issues. Groups prepare short reports of what they want everybody else to be informed about and post them on the News Wall. At 18:00 we all meet for “Evening News”, closing for the day at 18:30.
We will choose a popular ‘stammtisch’ for each evening.
On DAY TWO we continue at 9:30 with Morning Announcements followed by four rounds of breakout sessions, the first planned for 10:00. There will be a simple lunch around 13:00.
After the last round of breakout sessions we have the chance to study all reports posted in a Reading Gallery.
Evening News will be at 17:00, closing at 17:30 and, thereafter of course, stammtisch…
On DAY THREE we engage in Action Planning after Morning Announcements at 9:00, continuing till 12:15.
The Closing Circle starts at 12:15 and the third OSLEX closes at 13:00 hours.
COST and other DETAILS
To cover the direct costs of holding the event, give as much as you can. We will need on average Euro 150 per participant to pay for the venue, material, documentation, food and drink during the event and other direct costs of organizing the event. The Dutch VAT of 21% is also included.
Accommodations are not included.
Unlike many conferences, our Learning Exchange is a not-for-profit venture that is organized by folks volunteering their time.
If you want to take part in the Learning Exchange, please send an email to Frank Little at bfl@xs4all.nl to this effect and state the contribution you can make. You will receive a confirmation of your registration and an invoice once the final number of participants is known. To help us in our planning, please let us know soon, best right away, but no later than November 15 that you want to take part in the Learning Exchange.
If you or someone you know is unable to pay this amount, do tell them to contact us. Nobody is turned away from our Learning Exchange because of money.
We will send you information about the city and details on accommodations (which is not included in the 150€ fee for the event) close to our Venue. Utrecht is in the centre of the Netherlands, easily reachable by trains (half an hour from Amsterdam and from the airport). The venue is within walking distance of the central railway station in Utrecht.
